Here, here! I don't dispute for a second that Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc., are fun to play (and I must confess myself to a good few hours spent glued to the Xbox), but as a guitar player and educator I find it more than a little sad that children would prefer to invest tens or even hundreds of hours playing these games when they could achieve real results by turning their focus to a real instrument. Guitar Hero will never truly allow the thrill of a live performance, nor the social benefits of playing music, being in a band and getting to know other musicians. My advice to parents is to get Guitar Hero etc. by all means, but to swiftly follow up with a real live guitar - the benefits for your child will help shape them as they grow into adulthood, and their instrument will be a pleasure that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

We have 4 exterior doors to our home, tons of windows and way too many skylights. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I find myself having to get out my pancake air compressor and repair the roof around all of those skylights.

Next time there will be fewer skylights, fewer doors and larger windows.

Hi!

I think you have a point there. guitar playing or musical playing games do not compensate for the the real thing because for one, you dont have to learn how to play a certain instrument or even read notes to be able to play..you just simply click and bang away or something. It just goes to show that people are becoming more and more lazy to actually learn how to play or just too afraid to realize their dreams and actually learn to play. But yeah, those games do rock i know.

Hello!

I hope you don’t mind me reaching out. I’m producing a film on Haiti's agricultural crisis and the grassroots sustainable ag-based recovery movement emerging there. I believe strongly that Haiti is an amazing test-case of the failed paradigms of the past, and we are making this film both to promote a new path for Haiti, as well as leverage this "teachable moment" for the world.

We're on Kickstarter, and we've produced an Intro Video which I think your audience would find appealing. The video is at www.handsthatfeed.com. An embeddable version from Vimeo is available at: http://vimeo.com/13301985. I would also love your guys’ feedback on the project if you have any.

Thank you,
Josh

I'm with you! Heck, I still use a Moto Razr and access my email in the airport the "old fashioned" way: laptop!

I'm actually quite a bit younger than my colleagues (28, most of the guys/gals I work with are 35+) and they have all sorts of crazy contraptions; iPhones, Blackberry, iPad, HTC this and that. Seems like a lot of hassle. Sometimes I *don't want* to read that email when it is sent. I like affording myself that luxury.

The CarbonTwin project was created to promote free exchange of Carbon Offsets between members who simply share their carbon offsets (for no compensation!) with members with higher carbon footprints.
